Crescent at Christmas : The Buxton Crescent is an almost unique Grade-1-listed building in the town of Buxton. Owing much in its design to the Royal Crescent in Bath, but described by the Royal Institution of British Architects as “more richly decorated and altogether more complex”, it was designed by the architect John Carr, and built for the Fifth Duke of Devonshire between 1780 and 1789
The building has been the subject of complex and lengthy negotiations with various bodies to bring together plans for its refurbishment and rejuvenation which should see works start soon, however whilst those are now expected to be close to a conclusion, the building at current is currently empty but has a various times been lighted in a similar fashion to that captured in the photos. with this year been potentially the last time (in its current state). The photo’s are a quick few images taken hand held rather than with a tripod which would have aided stability for the longer night time shots.
